Some days, I just want to run away. Escape and explore the world and not care what i'm thinking about or doing. Just get away from all of it. Take a break from real life. Pause it. Actually fast forward through the hard times. But, then, I guess, what would I learn. I'd never grow. I'd never feel truly accomplished. Conquering hardness is why life isn't boring.

Other days, I just want to live in a moment for all eternity. Maybe when I'm hanging out with a friend and realize that we really have an awesome connection. Or when you sing that song you've been practicing and you hit it perfectly. Or maybe when everything's just going your way. That day that you are sitting out in God's wonder and there's a gentle breeze on your cheek. The sun is shining. The sky has Toy Story clouds and wispy clouds. Or watching a thunderstorm roll in with all it's lightning.

And yet other days... Other days have moments in them. Every day has it's struggle and joy. It depends on how you view life on which you will focus on. Every day is special. Live each day like... it's the best day ever! (You thought i was going to say your last. Tricked you).

Go have a fantastic day(s). Focus on the joy. On the people. On those special moments.

BLUEBERRY FEST PART DUO!

I LOVE BLUEBERRY FEST!

My family are those kind of people that say something is a tradition once we like something. Well, needless to say, blueberry fest is one of those traditions. Every year we can, we are in Nacogdoches to try out their blueberry goodness. My family even made dorky... i mean awesome t-shirts that were blue and superhero-ish. On the back each of us had a name that had to do with blue or berries or both. My name was "The Incredible Blueberry" (yes i stole that from incredible hulk). We also had names like "Blue Lantern," "Captain Blueberry," "Wonder Blueberry," and "Aqua-Berry." Then the shirts said, "SAVING THE WORLD WITH BLUEBERRY GOODNESS." Oh and our van also said this in blue, and it was called the blueberry-mobile. Get it, Bat-mobile, blueberry-mobile...

Anyways, this year my family put aside special time to go! So what's so grand about blueberry fest? Well, it has blueberries and is a festival. What's not to like? But really, there are little stands everywhere that you can buy things from; there are blueberry pancakes; there are blueberry treats; there is free water; and there is Cowboy Max! My family got to see Cowboy Max's show this year and my dad actually participated. Cowboy Max whipped something out of my dad's had whilst my dad was blindfolded and Cowboy Max was "blindfolded." In other words, Cowboy Max said he'd be blindfolded, but he wasn't.

But back to the blueberries. Sadly, my family missed out on blueberries. We waited too long to buy them and then tried to pick them and the farm closed on us. I was so sad. I love blueberries. So next time we go (hopefully next year), we will go right after our blueberry pancakes.

So, I probably could have merely typed I LOVE BLUEBERRY FEST, and y'all would have gotten the gist, but this was more fun! I hope you enjoyed. Now here are some pictures:

Things of past, things of the present, the future

The past:
As this day has progressed, i've realized how much OC has changed my life. I miss all my friends from there. I miss the days on campus where i can walk anywhere and everywhere. I miss walking out my door and not having to make any plans, but being able to go do something with ANYONE! I miss the winds (i know, it's crazy talk). I miss the clocktower. I miss the people.

The present:
The things i love about right now! I love that Kaila and I are hanging out. I love getting together with friends here. I love the laziness. I love the car i'm getting to drive and the freedom it gives me. i love the free food provided by my parents. I love the relaxing. I love these friends too.

The future:
I look forward to spending more time with friends here. I look forward to spending time with OC friends when we go back. I look forward to a new post about something fun! I look forward to all the activities next year. I look forward to being Sophmore female rep. I look forward to the admissions job i have. I look forward to possibly helping recruit for the engineering department. I look forward to Engineering Summer Academy. I'm looking forward to Earn Your Wings where i will help freshman earn their wings and become part of the OC family. Oh, did i already say i'm looking forward to all the people i will meet, hanging with all my home friends, and hanging with my "new" school friends? If not, that is what is most heavily on my mind. Friends. I need to see them. I need to hear from them. Make sure they are ok. See what is going on in their lives.

Grandma Great 911 prayers

Hey everyone,
i know i've been posting silly stuff recently, but if y'all could pray for my great grandma, that would be awesome!
She fell and broke her hip and she's at a very delicate age right now. And she's on some meds that thin her blood so they are afraid of other meds they can give her (including pain meds even though she's in a lot of pain), and afraid of the surgery. It will be preformed sometime tomorrow, so please pray that the doctors can help her and that she has a speedy recovery. I'm quite concerned for her and about her! Also pray for my great grandpa and all the rest of my family.

Day two of this wonderful new adventure! I let the water purify for 24 hours, and just now I added the sea monkey instant eggs and am letting them sit under a powerful light (aka, my desk light) for several days while I wait for them to grow. It is tiresome work, but totally worth it. I will love these little guys like no other 18 year old would (or should be)! What’s even better is now I’m buying my older sister sea monkeys and giving them to her over sister’s week, and I may even get some for my younger(ish) sister too!

I am truly excited! Here’s picture numero duo :D

Sea Monkeys ("It's the start of something new")

Ever since the beginning of school when I learned we could own fish, I’ve wanted sea monkeys! However, I had been unsuccessful at finding this rarity. UNTIL FRIDAY NIGHT! Well, seeing as I was RUSHING to curfew, I didn't buy my new pet(s), but patiently waited till I woke up on Saturday (at 1, then I took a shower, then I went and ate) to start BEGGING my friends (Alex, Jordan, and Lawson) to take me to Wal-Mart again. I eagerly asked what color container I should choose, green, blue, green, blue... at which point someone stated, "Green is my favorite color." It was decided. Green.

Well, I took my precious new friends to my room and then went and watched several movies.

Now, here I am, purifying my bottled water for my new friends. (Since sea monkeys are multiple beings, I don't know how I’m going to name them. Especially since they all look the same...). Here is a picture of the first stage: WATER PURIFICATION! Tomorrow, around this time, I will add the little tiny eggs. Then in a couple days, I will begin to see them. Oh, the joy. I'm so excited! I haven't seen sea monkeys since I was a kid.

You want to know the best part? They are supposed to live for at least two years!!! I'm so elated by this.

New start

Semester two. I can't believe it. I feel like only yesterday i was walking onto stage to take the paper of congrats, and now. . .
Now i am starting my second semester of college. This semester should be intresting. I'm taking programming two, calc two, discrete math (shhh, it's sneaky and quiet), Acts (the Bible book), a class where i get to make and program a robot. So yeah... Wish me luck.
Well, i can't focus any more so that's my little thing.

Life as we knew it

Wow, what a crazy, wild, memorable year. 2010. I'm sad to see it go, although honestly i didn't think i was going to survive it. I joked for years about how i'd never see my graduation or make it to my 18th birthday, but thankfully all those were just silly little comments. I have made it. I have actually made it and have made it 9 months into my 18th year of life. Now if i could only pause life. Pause. Pause it right here. That's right. Just keep living the last 9 months of my life over and over and over again. Put it on rerun.
Why? Why, you may be asking. Well, in the last 9 months i have turned into a "kiddult" as my dad would put it, graduated from high school, moved to college, started my degree (electrical engineering), met a ton of new friends, tried to keep up with old friends, traveled, sung songs, and just had a blast. As i look over the last 9 months (almost 10 now), i see that life is flying past. Am i taking ahold of EACH & EVERY DAY? no. No i am not.
So, as time goes on, don't forget. Each day is a blessing. Each day, well, you just don't know when you won't have a day. Somedays i forget that life is short; other days... well, i wonder if life will ever go on.
That was a random rant. Sorry for not posting so much. I guess it's cause, when i'm writting/talking, things like that ^ come out. I don't remember if there was any other point to this post. I guess the main thing i wanted to say is below.
I just wanted to thank all of you who have been so amazing in 2010 and i hope to stay connected to you in 2011!

New beginnings

Well, as some of you may notice, my background is a different background. I thought i'd change it partially just to change things up, but also to symbolize my new beginning.
As many of you know, this next year i am moving off to college. Well, this week is one of the few weeks i'm not crazy busy, so i am packing to leave. It's an exciting and terrifying thing. I can't believe everything is going so quickly. It seems like just yesterday when i was starting 9th grade. What happened to my four years of high school?
I know what i've been doing, but to look back on it, everything doesn't seem quite so busy as it did in the present moment. It's weird how looking back makes everything look different, huh?

I hope to be keeping y'all in touch with what's going on in my life in the next four years, and i hope y'all do the same!!!

Hehehehe, funny story. So i was in chickfila and i walked into the restroom to find a little boy who (and i quote) said "I need help." So i asked him,if he needed me to pull up his pants or if he had gone yet. he needed was me to help him pull his pants up. It was not something i thought i'd be doing today, but i'm glad i could help. Oh, and he asked me while i was helping him why i had hair on my arm. I told him that's how God made me, and he said huh? hahahaha. Kids are funny.

thank you for your posted letter for me. Yumm, chocolate bunnies are good (especially with peanut butter, which i also cannot have).
It is 8:40 and i have just gotten out of bed. I like to sleep till 8:30 or later. It's weird, I can be tired ALL day and then 10 pm comes along and i get a second wind. I wish i wanted to go to bed at 9 so that i wouldn't be tired the next day.
Anyway, my plans for today include doing math with a friend, writing some emails, and other various things.

Gardening

For those of you who heard that i was spreading dirt today, i did indeed spread it. However, i did not spread it so much over our "depressed" yard (or depressions in our yard), but in our depressing flower beds. I took plants out, i put plants in, i played in dirt, and i even drank out of our water hose. It was overall an enjoyable day. Now i hope to go lie down and pretend to be dead for a little while!

Recently i have been saying just in Life in general. I wish i had... This is the one i keep repeating: i wish i had wisdom for college, but really just life in general. This is all after a friend told me to read James 1:5:
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. ⁶But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ⁷That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; ⁸he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." Today i took a day off from life and went to the beach to pray for wisdom. It was a great time and although i'm not sure i'm any wiser, but i do know that it was a beneficial day.

This isn't a great post, but i thought i'd just let y'all know what i'm thinking about. I will try to fix this post up later, but i'm exhausted!

Life without Chocolate or Coffee? Can I survive?!?!

Well over the last two days i have had two hectic, and not fun days, of allergy testing. I am not one for needles, but i survived and really didn't cry ;-) I did whimper a little though.

The Doctor told me he would send me a more in depth list later, but here are my food allergies:
CHOCOLATE
COFFEE
CORN
watermelon
strawberry
rasberry
blackberry
lemon
lime
peanut
pork
Cola--Aka, no coke or pepsi (but thankfully i can have Dr. Pepper)
mushrooms (which i'm fine with)
mustard

What they told me to do is get off of all those things for two to three months and then, like you would do to a baby's diet, slowly add them back one at a time and see what i react to. So, three months without chocolate, coffee, corn, or peanuts :( Well, life goes on i suppose.

Ok, now here are some of my stories for those readers who have time and want to read.
I went in today and they had a little boy there (he was there yesterday with me too) and he asked "why are we here again? can we go home?" Poor kid. Then I tried the same, it didn't work. Then, he screamed the whole time, and for those of you who don't know, i used to (and still sometimes am) that kid. Then when i came out to wait for the doctor, he was there again. He went back in asking his mom, "this is just to talk right, no more pokes?"
Hahahaha, i felt like that kid the whole time. He was about three, and i'm much older, but i wanted to say everything he was. It's amazing how certain fears never really leave us, they just lessen slowly.
Well, i may post more about this later but that's all for now!

Allergy Testing

As some of you know, i am going in for allergy testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm a big needle phob and could use some prayers. I will be excited to know what exactly i'm allergic to so that i maybe can avoid breaking out in hives and getting some nasty meds every year.

For those of you who don't know, i am in choir :D Most of you probably know that though. However, none of you know that i will not be at choir this week :( See i'm going to go check out Oklahoma (and yes i sang the song from the musical to spell that) Christian. the reason i tell you this is because i'd love some prayers for guidance and wisdom. I'm trying to figure out where i'm to go next year and what i'm supposed to be doing. the college that i was going to go to (and may still) doesn't have the degree i want to do. Recently I had the honor of watching several of my friends in the play Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat! This is just a dedication to them to let them know how well they did!
I went last Saturday night to see it for the first time in 10 years! I was blown away! One of my friends choreographed all of the show. She did a fantastic job. Several of my other friends sang and danced. I was in awe of their talent. It was as if they were professional. Hahahah. Actually, i loved it so much, i went back sunday night! Great job guys!

If you think about the story of Joseph, it was actually quite a sad story. First, he was the most loved of all of Jacob's children, but he was hated by his brothers! Also, he was having these weird dreams, which he stupidly shared with his brothers. He told them they bowed down to him. That was the last straw! His brothers then tried to kill him, but instead, they decided to sell him.
He was taken to Egypt and sold once again. Slowly but surely he moved to a high postition in a wealthy captin's house, but the captin's wife took an intrest in him. He tried to stick up for his morals, but she would not relent. Finally she lied to her husband and said Joseph had done a horrific action and was sent to prison... sentenced for life.
However, even in prison he was well loved. The gaurds actually had him work for them because he was so honest. Later he met two men who had worked for pharo. He was asked to interpret their dreams...one dream was great news, the cupbearer would be going back to pharo's side...the other, not such great news. The baker was sentenced to death.
These dreams came true as Joseph had said.
One day, pharo had a startling dream. he called all of his "people" (or witchcraft people) to interpret, but they couldn't. And vwallah! The cupbearer remembered Joseph, so Joseph was promptly brought to the king of Egypt to interpret the dream. Joseph asked God to interpret for him. Then Joseph was put in the 2nd highest postition in Egypt to help with the upcoming famin.
While helping, Joesph's brothers came and asked for food, but didn't realize Joseph was the egyptian helping them. Before he decided to trust them, he decided to see if they were worthy of the trust. To shorten this very long but GREAT story, he planted something to convict the baby brother (who kinda had replaced him). Well, after a while, he finally told them who he was and had them all move to Egypt. It was a happy ending, but it took a really long time.
This is just to say that we WILL have strugles in this life, but we will always be taken care of (even if we don't see the effets till after death). Go look up the story. It's in Genesis. I suggest reading from chapter 37-45. That's the biggest part of the story! Enjoy!

Abilene PART 2!

Well, i know it's been a while since my first Abilene post, but here's what happened the rest of the time.
Friday we got up "early" and went to the campus of ACU. I met a lot of nice people, and talked to a counselor. then the preview day started. They gave us a baggie of goodies, and then the president, Dr. Royce Money, talked to us and gave us their promises, which included, being exceptional, real and one other thing that escapes my mind at this time.
then we went to chapel, which was fun because we sat on the floor and everyone was glad that we were checking out their school. After that, i talked to a physics proffessor, and he had a ton of great information that is really making me ponder what i should do with my life. It's confusing. I have a couple of options, but i don't know which one God wants me to go for.
After that we rushed to lunch and i gobbled it down as fast as possible because i needed to get to my ACT! Ahhh!!!! And i was running late. . .
Thankfully i made it there on time and took the test, and did pretty well on it for my first pass.

here is what i've been really excited to share! I went to dinner with a friend and then she told us of Abilene's balloon fest (airballoon that is). When we got there we realized that there was one family who was giving tethered airballoon rides!!!!! So we hoped in and up up up we went, about 40 ft or so later we felt like we were on top of the world... that is until they pulled us down so others could experience the same feeling. It was a blast!

The rest of the weekend was spent at the mall and a football game, which was intense (both the mall and the football game). We won the football game, but only barely. It was an exctiting weekend, and i am seriously considering my options for schools. Other schools are going to have to really work to defeat ACU!

Abilene--Prettiest Town I've Ever Seen!

It was a stormy day, I grabbed my suit case and threw it in the car preparing for a long trip. First, I had to go to classes, but soon i hopped in the car with my mother, unsure of what this day or weekend would bring. Seven hours later, we arrived in the beautiful west Texas town of Abilene. The sunset was gorgeous. We pulled into the hotel and started our college tour!
It is exciting, planning your life, but at times it can be scary. I'm trying to decide if i should go through the business department, do a science, go to ACU, go to OCU, or do something completely different!
However, lets get back to our trip! So we arrived at the hotel and to our dismay our room smelled smokey. BLUCK! So we asked to move rooms. We already had half our luggage in our room so i just decided to hang out there until till mom checked out our new room. Well, we transfered our luggage into the new room. . . A few minutes later we realized how much smaller the room was and how much it smelled like chlorine.
So once again we changed rooms, and finally we were home. :-)
Hence ended our first day.

Be looking for a post on today, tomorrow. Things to look forward to: how visiting a counseler went, what ACU preivew day is, how the ACT is a VERY long test, and how a AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL IS A BLAST!!!!!!!

In June i posted several things about a man named Ron Stowe; well, within a month, Mr. Stowe passed away. It was very sad and i am still deeply affected by it, but i thought that you guys should know. Please continue to pray for his family.

In a flash your world can change. You can think that life will always be the same, but it's not true. I experienced it first hand and for a second saw my life flash before my eyes.
My family went to the beach recently to burn all of our wood, and we had a cardboard tube that we thought would be fun to burn too. So, we sprayed lighter fluid and used some gel stuff that you put under serving dishes at buffets and threw it in the fire. Well, it was kind of boring, so we got it out with a shovel. Since there was a little bit of wind blowing towards the ocean, the flame only sat on one end of the open tube, but when the wind died down, a vacuum was created and the flame shot to the other side till the wind picked up again. Watch and enjoy :D
Oh, no one was seriously injured during the creation of this film, my hands and camera and face were just a little warm for a second ;-)

Have you ever been lost? alone?

Or have you felt happy? glad? sad? mad? bad? or like the fad has just passed over you?

Feelings, feelings... aren't they strange? You never get used to them, which i think is good. If you got used to feelings, you'd get used to love. You'd get used to feeling like the world is going your way for once. Used to feeling embraced and used to feeling alive; you'd get used to when people suddenly died. You couldn't mourn or laugh and feel truly good. While discarding feelings maybe more convenient than having them, it's still worth it to have them right?

remember that for a while... i'm going to refer back to it in a future post, i just have to get all my thoughts together on that post.

Life Wouldn’t Be The Same

Have you ever stopped to think about things that have changed your life? Little moments that seemed so big then, but are so small now; or maybe vice-versa, they were so small then, but huge now. Maybe talking to one person, or having a sunny day instead of rain, or maybe having a kind word spoken has completely changed your life. Looking back on my life I see many of those moments. Some make my heart have warm fuzzies, others make me want to cry, but each have developed my outlook on life. I kinda wish that I could jump from parallel universe to parallel universe (not that I particularly believe in parallel universes, I just like the idea of seeing different ways my life would have turned out), but I think that this is the most perfect life I could have if I were to not change anything but my actions. Think, I have a mom, dad, two beautiful sisters, a whole bunch of relatives, friends upon friends upon friends that each have a place in my heart…I’ve lived overseas, I’ve lived in the grand ol’ state of Texas in the great country of the U.S. of A! I’ve had good times and bad. I’ve had a great life. I dedicate this post to being thankful for everything, even the hard times that have happened. Thank You oh Lord!

Our Monthaversiary Already Passed???

Weird title aye? You may be wondering who I shared this blessed "Monthaversiary" with. Well, I shared it with more than 183 people. That's right. My Monthaversiary (by the way, that word is credited to Mandy, thanks ;-D) is with Summit Ministries' very own session 4 group (which you can check out at summit.org. Go check it out!).
If any of you have hung out with me since I’ve been home, then you know how much this camp means to me. Although I try not to overwhelm you with all my fun stories and lessons learned, I can't help but talk about them. They have forever changed my life and I will never be able to repay them.
I don't know where to start or how to end, nor do I know if I will ever fully disclose the wonderful tales of our adventure, but I am determined to try. As this year progresses, I hope to have many a post that mentions or is dedicated to The SUMMIT.
We will start with day one:
The first day, I got up at before light graced the world to arrive to the airport on time. I showered and didn't believe it was already time for Summit. Life had seemed to fly by for the last three months when I first signed up. Well, needless to say, I was so exhausted from getting up early to catch my plane, then driving two hours from my airport to Summit. When my friend, Debbs, and I arrived, we were greeted by the girls at the front desk who kindly told us we were on the 4th floor. I was about ready to leave right then. You see, both Debbs and I had brought over 50 lbs in luggage, in fact, we probably brought 140 lbs combined... AHHH! Well, on our way out to get it we met three nice gentlemen who kindly offered to take ALL of our bags up all four flights of stairs. They literally saved our lives. *SIDE NOTE* for those of you who have never flown to Colorado from a flat, humid, hot... place: They actually have elevation! And it hurts. Your lungs fill like they are going to explode!

We got to our room and realized we were in a suite with 8 other girls (excluding us two). That was exciting! More exciting than I can put into words.
Well, Debbs and I took a few minutes in town (Manitou Springs--Said like Man-i-tou Springs, Colo-rado BY DOC) to transition our minds into this new wonderful place. Also, to get ready for the swarms of people we'd meet in the next few hours. Little did we realize that to get back to Summit, you must trek up a very steep hill!!! After we survived the trek, I thought I could take on world! So we did. We went and introduced ourselves to probably 80 something people. Several of them that were to be my best friends in less than two weeks.
Here are some of the names of those people and a short word or phrase that described how we met:

Caitlin: room. First camper I met
Ellen: "hey, I have that shirt!"
Nathan: cards, under the table ;-)
Bradley and Dustin: that stupid random fact game
Cortney, Staci, and Kaylene: Suite mates.
Aysia and Joelle: Roommates, best EVER!
Mallory: playing a game

The list goes on. Well, there is a small glimpse into our first day. So, i thought i'd let you get a little glimpse into my summer.
Here is my week so far:
Sunday, pretty peaceful. I made blueberry pancakes for dad for father's day. Then we went swimming. Just a fun summer day. We ended by watching bed time stories! cute movie.

Monday: I got my license!!!! AHHH!!!! Then i just kinda chilaxed, oh and helped someone with their pool!

Tuesday: I started packing for Summit, which doesn't start till the 28th. I also started shopping for that. Got some nice stuff.

Wednesday (i hate spelling that word!): Kept packing...and packing...and laundry...watched a movie...and packed...and that's it.

Thursday: Packed, laundry, shopped with Deborah!!!!!! It was a blast! I got a pink scarf and a cute shirt with blue in it (yes, i'm obsessed with ONE color! ).

What's in store for the rest of the week?
Friday: Hanging with my family!
Saturday: Kaila leaves for camp :'( I'll miss her terribly!
Sunday: I'M LEAVING!!! WOOT! I'll be really sad about leaving my family, but i'm so stoaked!!!

There is an average week, well not so average, but still a week in my life :D

Blueberry Festival

BLUEBERRY FEST! That's right, I said BLUEBERRY FEST!
You may be wondering, what is a blueberry fest??? Well, here is what went down for us!
First, we woke up early. O.K. early as in I think we got up at 7:30.
We arrived at the festival around 8:00. We jumped in the line for blueberry pancakes, and an hour and five minutes later, we ate pancakes! Let’s just say they were really good pancakes. I heard that Bill White was even in the line, but I didn't realize it.

After our great pancakes, we walked around looking at little tents with cutsie shops in them. I bought a pair of GREEN sunglasses!

My mom and sister bought parasols, which they brilliantly used to protect them from the sun. I stupidly didn't. I have a striking sunburn now. It's pretty intense and hurt (actually hurts) an awful lot.

Cowboy Max was one of the best parts! He was a COWBOY and he had a lasso AND a bullwhip! He showed us some sweet lasso moves while we stood in our hour and five minute pancake line. He had young children jump into it while he was twirling it. Then he also twirled the lasso around himself at one point. However, my ultimate favorite trick he did was he gave my family a mini show! We missed his regular show, but he said he would give us a sneak peak. He said "I’ll be right back, I’m going to go get my bullwhip and whip something outa your (dad's) mouth." He came running back and handed my dad a carnation that was as long as my arm! He asked us "ladies, how brave would you say he is, on a scale from 1 to 10?" Of course we all said 10!!!!!! Well, poor dad. Cowboy Max slowly but surely stripped the carnation's stem down to only about a little longer than my hand. Then he carefully positioned my dad to hold the flower (although, he put it in his hand not his mouth). He took a couple cracks (meaning he whipped his whip and made a few jokes!), then he whipped it out of my dad's hand. It was quite impressive.

Next, we walked into air-conditioning (which was quite a treat since I believe the temperature had been in the late 90s). We listened to some jazz and I really wanted to swing dance all of a sudden!
It was a really fun day filled with many other fun events (including me winning bingo, my family playing dominos at the hotel, and many other things).

Recently, I have been staying with my older sis in her new apartment in Plano.
While we have been here, we’ve helped her move in, I’ve worked on some odd projects for me, and we’ve eaten… A TON!
One night we were setting something up in her apartment and heard sirens. She lives near a fire department, so we thought little of it. However, they lasted FOREVER and we heard something being said, but I couldn’t understand it.
Well, our sweet tooth got the better of us and we walked down to a little donut shop to get a bite. It looked kinda gross outside, but it had been threatening to rain the whole day. It was really still and kinda eerie, but I still thought little of it. We got our donuts and started the two minute walk home. It started raining before we could get inside, so we quickly scooted in a different entrance to her apartment as not to get wet. You see, we haven’t had consistent internet or TV, so we hadn’t checked the weather all week. When we got in, mom was on the phone with dad. He said that there had been a tornado! After we got over the shock, we cracked up! You see, one of my sisters had heard something about a tornado warning, but didn’t realize the difference between warning and watch and was pretty certain we were safe. She actually told us she heard it before we left, but we didn’t hear her. The next day my older sister went to work and her co-workers told her they thought the tornado had blown within two miles of where we walked. We wondered why it was so still, now we know. What’s really funny is almost anytime there is a tornado, my family is out and about, usually eating. I just thought you’d like to hear this humorous true story.
